The greatest advantage which our department has to offer is our qualified and dedicated personnel, who have specialized in various European university hospitals in Holland and Belgium, and American hospitals in Washington University hospital and Carolinas Health Center in Charlotte. All of our department’s doctors are active members of European and world health organizations and annually participate in symposiums and congresses and deliver their own presentations around the world, and have publications in the national and international medical journals and press. This gives our department the confidence and is the proof that every single patient who seeks our help can be served at any time 24 hours a day with the most modern methods and techniques which comply with European standards of patient diagnostics and treatments.
Dr. Petrov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1992, and received his specialization in internal medicine in 1999, and added a specialization in cardiology in 2003, and has an additional specialization in invasive cardiology. Dr. Petrov also graduated from a health care management program at the Sofia University. He has completed post-graduate medical courses in Echocardiogram Stress testing in Wiesbaden, Germany, and in 1999-2000 he was awarded a stipend to specialize in invasive cardiology and radiology in The Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac-Vascular surgery sponsored by the Favaloro Foundation in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the period 1992-2006, Dr. Petrov worked in the general hospital “Sveta Ekaterina”, where he worked his way up staring as a volunteer partner to resident to head resident in the hospital cardiology clinic. In November 2006, he was appointed to lead the cardiology department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia. Dr. Petrov has numerous medical publications and has participated in and participates in numerous medical seminars and congresses on the national and international level. He is a member of the European Cardiology Society, and has the rank of FESC “Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology”, and also is a member of the Spanish Association of Cardiology, the Latin American Association of Interventional Cardiologists, the Bulgarian Society of Angiography and Vascular surgery, The National Society of Bulgarian Cardiologists and others. Dr. Petrov is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
Dr. Konteva graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1993, her first specialization was in internal medicine earned in 1999, and her second is in cardiology which she received in 2003. In 2004, she received an additional specialization in interventional cardiology. She also received a specialization in invasive cardiology in Charlotte, North Carolina USA. After her graduation, she began working in the internal diseases department of the general hospital Sveta Ekaterina, and in 1994 she joined the clinical cardiology department, and in 2001 she joined the invasive laboratory of the cardiology clinic of the hospital. She has been a member of the cardiology department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia since we began serving the public. Dr. Konteva has completed specialized courses in Bulgaria for Endothelial Dysfunction, Ultrasound techniques in Clinical Cardiology, Cardiac Deficits, and a training course in Directional-coronary Arterectomy held in Brussels, and a course in modern methods of invasive cardiology held in Washington, DC USA. She has participated in numerous national and international scientific seminars and conferences. She is a member of the European Association of Invasive and Interventional Cardiology, the National Society of Invasive and Interventional Cardiologists, and the National Society of Cardiologists and others.
Dr. Yaneva graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1984, and received her specialization in internal diseases in 1989 and in cardiology in 1995. She worked in the internal diseases department of the general hospital Tzarina Yoanna, and was the department chief in the specialized hospital for the treatment of chronic pulmonary and cardiac diseases in the town Iskretz. During the period 1995-2006, she led her department in the surgical clinic “Professor Stanishev, and she also worked in the gall-bladder liver and pancreatic surgical clinic in the general hospital Alexsandrova. She has completed courses in abdominal echography, echocardiography, and anesthesiology and re-animation (intensive care). She is a member of the European Cardiology Association and the Bulgarian Cardiological Society.
Dr. Traykov has graduated cum laude from the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 2000. After receiving his medical degree he worked at the Clinic of Nephrology at the Medical University of Sofia and at the Intensive Care Unit at the Military Medical Academy in Sofia. In 2002 he started working at the Department of Cardiology of the National Heart Hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2004 he became an assistant professor at the Laboratory of Electrophysiology at the National Heart Hospital. From 2008 to 2011 he completed his training at the Second Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Szeged, Hungary. He joined the team of the Department of Cardiology at Tokuda Hospital – Sofia in April 2011. In 2010 Dr. Traykov successfully passed the cardiology board exam at the University of Szeged, Hungary. In 2011 he was awarded a certification in invasive electrophysiology and cardiac pacing from the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). Dr. Traykov has more than 20 publications, some of which appearing in leading international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at major international meetings in the field of cardiology, invasive electrophysiology and cardiac pacing. He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, the European Heart Rhythm Association, the Bulgarian Society of Cardiology and the Hungarian Society of Cardiology. Dr. Traykov is fluent in English and speaks also Hungarian and German.
Dr. Martinov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1995, and has two specializations: one in internal diseases and another in cardiology. He worked for eight years in the cardiology clinic of the general hospital Pirogov, and for two years in the National Cardiology Hospital. He participated in the Euro PCR 2005, and a course in invasive cardiology. He has been with us at Tokuda Hospital Sofia since July 2005.
Dr. Kichukov graduated from the Plovdiv Medical University in 1998, and successfully defended his scientific doctorate thesis in cardiology in 2003. He received his specialization in internal diseases and in cardiology in 2004 and 2006 respectively. He has nine years of professional experience gained from the cardiology clinic and the invasive cardiology clinic of the general university hospital Sveti Georgi located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 2004, he was a resident in the internal diseases department of the Plovdiv Medical University.< . He has completed courses and received all the required certifications for a comprehensive range of functional cardiac examinations and tests. Dr. Kichukov has co-authored 17 scientific publications, and is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Cardiologists, the Bulgarian Society of Interventional Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiologists, and European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI.
Dr. Zehirov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1992, and received his specialization in internal diseases in 1999, and earned his specialization in cardiology in 2007. After graduation 1993-1995 he worked in the Center for Emergency Medical Care. From 1995 to September 2008, he worked in the Second Sofia Municipal Hospital in the intensive cardiology department and in the catheterization laboratory. He joined our team in October 2008. Dr. Zehirov completed a post graduate medical training course in invasive cardiology in the Niguarda Hospital in Milan, Italy under the mentorship of Professor S. Klugman.
Dr. Dimitrov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 2004 and worked for two years in the invasive cardiology clinic in the university hospital Sveta Ekaterina. He has been a member of Tokuda Hospital Sofia since our opening.
Dr. Pakerov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1993, and at the moment he is preparing for his specialization exam in internal diseases. He has all the required certifications for functional cardiological examinations, and has completed coursework in the school of preventative cardiology led by Professor Chudomir Nachev, and also has completed a course in interventional cardiology held in Frankfurt, Germany. After his graduation he began working in the cardiology department of the general hospital Tzarina Yoanna, were he gained 7 years of experience. From 2000 to the end of 2006 he was a team member of the cardiology clinic of the university hospital Sveta Ekaterina. He has been a member of our team since the opening of our hospital. He is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Interventional Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiologists.
Dr. Stoyanov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1995, and earned his specialization in internal diseases in 2003 and in cardiology in May 2007. He has ten years of experience gained in the Military Medical Academy cardiology clinic, intensive therapy department, and the interventional cardiology laboratory. He has been a member of the Tokuda Hospital Sofia cardiology department since we opened our doors to serve the public.
Dr. Baev graduated from medical university in 2002, and he preparing for his internal diseases specialty board examinations. After his graduation, he began working at the general hospital Pirogov, in the primary internal medicine department for two years, after which he worked in the university hospital Sveta Ekaterina until he began working with us in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. Dr. Baev has completed post graduate medical training courses about bi-furcational stenosis in Germany, Germany.
Dr. Kotirkov graduated from the Sofia Medical Medical University in 2006, and worked for one year in the general hospital Sveta Sofia in the internal diseases department. He has been a member of Tokuda Hospital since July 2008.
Dr. Murzyanov graduated from the Stara Zagora Medical University in 1995, and earned his specialization in internal diseases in 2001. He has completed courses in echocardiography, emergency cardiology and cardiac rhythmic disorders. He worked for five years in the internal diseases department of the municipal hospital in the town of Gulubovo, and for seven years in the intensive cardiology department of the Stara Zagora general hospital. He joined our team in December 2006.
Dr. Dimitrov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1987, and he earned his specializations in internal diseases and cardiology. He has completed courses in functional examination and testing of the cardiovascular system including echography and abdominal echography. Dr. Dimitrov worked in the pulmonology and hematology department of the Medical Institute of the Interior Ministry, in the cardiological clinic of the National Multiprofile Transport Hospital, and has been a member of our cardiology department since 2008. He is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Cardiologists and the European Society of Cardiologists.
Head nurse Brashnenkova graduated from the medical college Yordanka Filaretova of the Sofia Medical University. She has a bachelor’s degree health care management and a qualification certificate Manager of Nursing and Patient care. At the moment she is pursuing a master’s degree in the Sofia University Public Health Faculty for Public Health and Health Care Management. After her graduation, she began working in the Specialized Hospital for the Active care of Childhood Diseases. A year later she began working in the university hospital Sveta Ekaterina, where she gained 11 years of experience, and four years of which as a cardiology department nurse. She has been a member of the cardiology department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia since the beginning of the project.
